Boracay Island

Area: 10.32km2 / Population: 37’802 (2020) / Highest Elevation: 92m (observation deck Mount Luho) / Airport: Caticlan Boracay Airport
The famous and well known Beach destination in the Philippines with it’s pristine White Beach, stunning sunsets and lots of watersports and Island Hopping. Boracay is the most iconic Island in the Philippines and has won multiple awards in previous years. Personally I really like the White Beach since the sand is so fine and one can walk easily inside the sea and have a swim. Also the smaller Diniwid Beach and Puka Beach are very nice to relax and swim. Since my first visit in 2004 at former Boat station 3, stayed at laid back Angol Point Beach Resort with only 8 Bungalows each of big Lanai made of Bamboo (sadly it is not well maintained since last time I visit Boracay in 2022), it changed a lot. The Resorts, Hotels and Inns become so much that you really need to decide where you prefer to stay. From Loud Bars and Parties over big chain Hotels (Station 2) to smaller Boutique Hotel or Inns in more quiet areas (Station 3, after Angol Point).
When to travel: Dry season from November to April (June to October: Tropical storms and occasional typhoons make this the off-season)
Festivals: Ati-Atihan, the Philippines’ most famous and riotous festival is this week long mardi gras in Kalibo, Panay and Boracay, which peaks in the third week of January.
